The Pistol is a weapon in POSTAL 2.

Description

The manual description:

The Pistol is your standard firearm. It does a moderate amount of damage but is very accurate.

The Pistol is the standard weapon used by the Paradise Police Force, and many town folk carry one along with them as well. It is very accurate, making it good for popping off distant targets and can kill most enemies in 2 or so shots, but is not very effective against tougher foes such as the National Guard. Because of its low rate of fire though timing your shoots seems to make it faster, the player is more vulnerable when attacking an armed enemy. It is best kept for emergency purposes or popping off distant foes rather than a primary weapon.

Point-blank shots to the back of the head deal much more damage than regular shots. This is referred to internally as "execution style." The amount of damage is dependent on the enemy type, but many die in 1 shot this way.

NPCs using the Pistol have much worse accuracy than the Postal Dude, and also fire it much more slowly.

Trivia

The early version of the Pistol as featured on a Russian magazine

• The Pistol is visually based on the IMI Desert Eagle, and in the game's early stages, it was a hybrid of the Desert Eagle and Colt M1911.
• The Pistol has an unused reload animation, which can be triggered by entering the "forcereload" command into the console.
